Boot Out Meningitis For Good #BoOM4GOOD is a Foundation in memory of Temi Braithwaite who sadly passed away in her sleep at the age of 19 on the 11th of December 2014. Temi who was completing her first semester at Swansea University had complained over the previous few days of having flu-like symptoms, it transpired in a post-mortem that she died of Meningitis.
Turning the
Grief into Purpose
Des and Ajoke Braithwaite share the heartbreaking journey that led to the creation of BoOM4GOOD:
“When the news broke, it was a rude shock. My wife and youngest daughter were in England when a police officer informed them of Temi’s passing. The postmortem revealed meningitis as the cause of death. Our first son had survived meningitis the year before due to timely medical intervention, but we didn’t recognize the signs in Temi. We realized how little attention meningitis receives and decided to create this foundation in her memory.”
Since its launch on December 12, 2015, with a 5km awareness walk, BoOM4GOOD has been dedicated to educating the public and preventing future tragedies like Temi’s.
